The ex-president has, over the years branded himself as a significant player in Ghana’s political history.
He began his active political life as a member of parliament (MP) for Bole Bamboi.
He was later appointed as a deputy minister, and later a substantive minister of Communications.
The late president, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills picked him a running mate for the 2000 elections, which they won.
John Mahama ascended to the highest seat of the land as president, when president Mills passed away on 24th July 2012.
