Ghana’s former president John Dramani Mahama celebrated his 59th birthday today.

Several Ghanaians used a number of platforms to extend well wishes to him.

Members of his household, however decided to make it special.

A hurriedly composed “choir’ made up of his staff and security personnel marked the unique day with a song.

The ex-president has, over the years branded himself as a significant player in Ghana’s political history.

He began his active political life as a member of parliament (MP) for Bole Bamboi.

He was later appointed as a deputy minister, and later a substantive minister of Communications.

The late president, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills picked him a running mate for the 2000 elections, which they won.

John Mahama ascended to the highest seat of the land as president, when president Mills passed away on 24th July 2012.
