The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM) has announced plans to form a political party in Ghana.
They explained that the two major political parties in the country, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have failed them.
In a report by www.mynewsgh.com, they claimed that the two parties have deliberately stifled their businesses with harsh policies.
They cited the recent ban on small scale mining as the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“We have been motivated by the over 1 million active members scattered across 8 regions of the country and concluded on forming our own political party to champion our interest”, the association stated.
They further revealed that all the required legal procedures have been started and in two weeks an suitable would be announced for the new party.
According to the miners, the political class has failed them, and to sit and wait any longer would be a gross disrespect to their constitutional rights.
They are therefore calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians to join their cause in order to resuscitate their business.
