Actor Chris Attoh has finally opened up about some allegations in the media that he was gay which eventually played a role in his divorce with his Nigerian wife Damilola Adegbite.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Angel TV, the actor reiterated that the allegations were totally false and were just a fabrication made by a certain woman some years ago.
In recounting the incident that led to the ‘gay’ tag, Chris Attoh revealed that he had been approached by an unknown woman after he had hosted a show at the National Theatre in Accra one evening.
He said the woman made advances towards her and requested for sexual favors from him. He indicated that at the time, he was not interested because he was eagerly chasing some money. He said the lady was only clothed in a jacket with no clothing underneath.
Chrris Attoh added that he was not attracted to the lady because “it was not something that was attractive and packaged”. He went on to reveal that he encouraged the woman to wear her clothes and leave.
He said the said encounter happened in the “Green Room” at the National Theatre in Accra.
He added that when he turned down the lady’s offer, she ‘swore’ to go to as many media outlets as possible to tell them that he (Chris Attoh) was a gay because he refused to ‘touch’ her when she offered herself ‘freely’ to him.
The comments come on the heels of the actor’s shocking divorce from his ex-wife, Damilola Adegbite and the issues that led to the divorce.
Chris revealed that he did not know that people took that situation that happened many years ago so serious for it to even come up again. He said the matter was not in any way going to coerce him to speak on details of his divorce with actress Damilola Adegbite.
