Actress Lydia Forson is one of the talented names in the West African film industry, with an impressive list of successful local and international movies to prove it.
Lydia, whose career shot up in the early 2000s, following her starring role in the Sparrow Productions film ‘Scorned’, is now among the most sought- after film stars on the continent.
However, there is always that one time or other when Lydia has had to face some controversial factors in her line of work. One of them is her body size.
Lydia is one of Ghana’s most beautiful celebrities, no doubt, however the actress has hit hard at some unknown producers who rejected her talent because she did not ‘fit’ the image of a beautiful woman.
In a post via her Instagram page, the actress expressed disappointment in the fact that society still views plus-sized women as less beautiful, to the point of denying them opportunities.
“I was rejected NOT because I wasn't good enough for the role, but because I didn't fit into the producers idea of what a 'beautiful' woman looks like. But guess what?
This big ‘butt’ and tits won me an AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARD, AFRICA INT. FILM FESTIVAL AWARD, GHANA MOVIE AWARD, SUPER WOMAN AWARD, CITY PEOPLE AWARD, FASHION ICON AWARD and a Your Father is drooling over me MEGA AWARD,” the actress wrote.
She further explained that the role was seemingly a done deal, until someone on the project decided her body was not attractive enough for the role.
However Lydia has shrugged off the matter, stating no one should cry for her because she is blessed.
The post garnered massive support from her fans, as many praised her for her beauty and assured her that she is truly a stunning and talented actress.
