In the wake of comments coming from the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah on the cause of death of some students in Kumasi Academy, more deaths have been recorded.

Speaking to Graphic Online, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES) revealed that the students who died on Tuesday morning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital comprised 2 females and a male.

The death toll of the ‘mysterious death which started in April this year has caused the lives of 13 students of the school.

According to the report by mynewsgh.com, some other 24 students of the Kumasi Academy are currently on admission at the KNUST Hospital.

Blood samples of the deceased has been forwarded to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research for investigation into the deaths. The research facility is expected to come out with preliminary reports on earlier deaths by December 6.

However, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Honorable Simon Osei Mensah has speculated that the deaths were as a result of the outbreak of Ebola in the second cycle institution.

A meeting is being held today, December 5, with the parties in attendance being the Regional Minister, some members of the Ghana Education Service and some members of the Ghana Health Service to discuss ways of dealing with the situation.

The death of the students have struck fear and uncertainty into the minds of students and parents whose wards are in the school.

According to reports coming from the school, media men and women have been temporarily banned from the institution to meet with authorities to get their word on the deaths in the school.
