A man who posed as presidential staffer to dupe unsuspecting victims has been busted by the Mamprobi Police.

Fake presidential staffer busted for fraud

The suspect, identified as Nii Afadi, has been collectingmonies from his victims under the pretext of selling them auction cars at the Flagstaff House.

According to one of the victims who identified himself as Amoako, the fraudster was introduced to him by his brother, a taxi driver who normally picks him to work.

The suspect had suggested to the taxi driver that he works at the Flagstaff House wanted to help him if he was interested in buying cars on auction.

The taxi driver informed Amoako and on Tuesday, September 19, they met the suspect at Afrikiko restaurant adjacent the Flagstaff House.

According to Amoako, he gave the suspect, who was in the company of an armed policeman, a part payment of GHC16000 to buy two Hyundai Atos cars pegged at GHC20000.

The suspect then took his [Amoako's] ID cards claiming that he was going to use it to process the documents on the car.

“After taking the money he took us to the Flagstaff House and told us that they are going for lunch and that after lunch he will call us [so] we meet up,” he said.

Amoako add that when they "“We entered the Flagstaff House, sat and waited for him until 6pm …afterwards we called him and he failed to pick up".

The suspect, it is reported has also defrauded another victim of GHC9,000 in similar style.

Speaking to Starr News, ASP Efia Tenge, the Greater Accra regional Police PRO confirmed the arrest but pointed out that the Police were yet to establish establish if the suspect wor or not. at the Flagstaff House.

According to ASP Tenge, the suspect is currently in Police cells and would be put before court on Thursday.
