A Ghanaian artiste based in the United Kingdom, Lynette Yiadom Boakye, has reportedly earned $1.5 million from one painting.

The painting, “The Hours Behind You” was purchased at Sotheby’s, which is one of the world’s largest brokers of fine and decorative art, jewellery, real estate, and collectibles.
In a report by OMGVoice.com, the art is described as “full of energy and emotion”.
It shows a group of women who are barefoot and wearing simple white shift dresses or cotton nightgowns.
They are engaged in what appears to be a spiritual dance.
With respect to her work, Lynette is represented by the Corvi-Mora Gallery in London and by the Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City.
Over the years, her works have reportedly been collected by several prominent institutions all over the world.
She has won a number of awards for her work, the latest being a 2013 shortlist for a 2012 exhibition for the Turner Prize.
