Reggae/dancehall star of the moment, Ebony Reigns, has joined in the ‘fight’ for the prestigious title of ‘Artiste of the Year’.
She is the second to openly declare her credibility for that award after Fancy Gadam first made such claims earlier this week.
The ‘Sponsor’ hit maker believes that together with her management, she has worked harder this year therefore she deserves to win the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award at the Ghana Music Awards next year.
“We have really worked hard this year. Therefore I feel like I deserve to win; and if I win, it is not because of merit,” Ebony said.
However, she was quick to add that even though she hopes to grab that award, she also hopes the best artiste wins, stated a myjoyonline report.
“But even if I don’t deserve it, it is still my prayer that I win. I am hopeful but may the best win,” Ebony said.
2017 has indeed been a fruitful year for Ebony.
So far all her music releases this year have been hit upon hit.
They include ‘Sponsor’, ‘Date your father’ and ‘Hustle’.
Despite her talent, Ebony has also not been spared castigation by some members of the public for her provocative way of dressing and stage craft.
She has often responded to critics saying they should rather focus on her talent than her dressing and grooming.
Ebony unveiled her first album ‘Bonified’ in Accra on Wednesday.
She is also set to hold her mega concert ‘Soloku Bonyfied Concert’ at the West Hills Mall tomorrow December 9.
In a related development, former manager of Shatta Wale, Bulldog has tipped Fancy Gadam as the winner of the Artise of the year award.
According to him, the ‘Total Cheat’ hit maker has performed impressively in this year and so deserves that title in the next Ghana Music Awards.
