- The CID has invited Julius Debrah for questioning
- The summons follow the inflation of a waste bins contract
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is set to summon the former chief of staff, Julius Debrah over a $74 million waste bins contract.
Investigations by Joy FM reveals that the former chief of staff initiated the contract which was increased by over 100 percent (31 million dollars or 130 million cedis).
The embattled former chief of staff, who was the minister of local government and rural development is said to have awarded a contract for the supply of 155,000 waste bins at a cost of 24 million cedis.
According to reports, the company supplied 100,500 waste bins because the ministry said it did not have the space to take delivery of the remaining 54,500 waste bins.
Till date, the supplier is still waiting to supply the rest but the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development awarded a 74 million cedis to five companies to supply one million waste bins and 900 000 bin liners.
Meanwhile, both Julius Debrah is yet to comment on this issue so as the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
