The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini and some friends have tasted the food served to students under the Free SHS policy.
The MP and some colleagues were served with the food when they turned up over the weekend to make some donations at their alma mater.
Alhassan Suhuhini and his 1997 year group of Ghana Secondary School (GHANASCO), in Tamale were in the school to handover a GH¢ 42,000 refurbished library project to the authorities under their own initiative.
The lawmaker as part of efforts to familiarize himself with the activities of the school, visited their dining hall where he and his colleagues were served with the food.
The young MP in a short address lauded authorities of GHANASCO for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quota to their alma mater.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute what we intend to be the first of many contributions to upgrade the facilities of this great school that made us,” the MP said.
The lawmaker in his account recalled how the school greatly contributed in shaping his entire educational life while he was a student.
“20 years ago I stood before an audience to debate for the first time in this school; today I represent a constituency in Ghana’s Parliament. My colleagues who represented our school at the Brilliant science and Maths quiz are doctors at the Tamale Teaching hospital. Some of our colleagues are mentoring other young ones as lecturers and head teachers, some are successful entrepreneurs and we have bankers and insurance brokers among us,” Suhuhini added.
