Former president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor has called for the establishment of a female replica of Prempeh College.
In a report by mynewsgh.com, the ex-president argued that this move would assist in the fight to achieve gender balance in education.
John Kufuor made the call during the celebration of Prempeh College’s 68th Speech and Prize Giving Day.
An alumnus of the school, he stated that the move would also help in curbing illiteracy among women in Ghana.
“We have for 68 years lived on this campus all alone without girls and on this note, I suggest we are provided with our girls to make life on campus comfortable “, he noted.
Kufuor again stated that it would be in the interest of Ghana for women to benefit form the training provided at Prempeh College.
Prempeh College, established as an all-male school in 1948, recently won the National Science and Maths Quiz.
