A suspected thief nearly lost his life after he got trapped in a well at Adientamu, a suburb of Takoradi for over eight hours on Monday.
According to information gathered by YEN.com.gh, the man in the company of others, went to the well which is located off the St. Peter's road, with the intention of stealing a submersible pump in it.
But as it turned out, the well was too deep and he got trapped while his accomplices, who could not do much about the situation, left him to his fate.
The thief, we understand, got trapped around 1:00am and was rescued just before 10:00am.
An eyewitness told Takoradi-based Skyy Power FM that, but for the timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, a different story would have been told.
Even with their intervention, they had literally beg the suspect before he agreed to come out. Apparently, he feared for his life.
After being convinced, the almost unconscious thief was pulled out with a rope and handed over to the Police.
