A Circuit Court in Koforidua in the Eastern region on Tuesday, granted a GHC 30,000 bail to the matron and a driver for allegedly stealing food items meant for students.

The court presided over by her honour, Janet Anima Margo, slapped a GHC 30,000 bail on each of the suspects with two sureties.

Reports say the matron and one of the schools’ driver named Alfred, were caught transporting the foodstuff with in a GES vehicle with registration number GN 6717-15, a few weeks ago.

The Chief security officer of the school who has received praise from many in his account, insisted that on November 16, 2017, at around 7pm, the matron packed the schools’ truck with sacks of gari, cartons of milk, rice, tins of milo, cartons of tomatoes, among other items.

The security man added that after the incident he called the headmaster and even wrote an official report to him that very night but he (the headmaster) refused to cause their arrest and allowed them to transport the foodstuff away.

This was said to have triggered a swift response from some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), causing the immediate arrest of the matron for further police investigations.
