The Eastern regional police command have arrested a 20-year-old young man for stabbing a friend to death over a mobile phone.
According to Adomonline.com report, the victim suffered multiple wounds and died later after he was rushed to the hospital.
The suspect, Emmanuel Kwame Kwakye, allegedly stabbed the victim in his left thigh after the two engaged in a fierce fight over the missing phone.
Chief Inspector Ebenezer Sakyi, the Koforidua station officer who confirmed the incident said the fight ensued between the two after Kwakye accused the victim, Kwesi Anthony, of stealing his mother’s phone.
The police inspector explained that the suspect who had visited his mother at Srodae, a suburb of Koforidua, angrily attacked the victim for allegedly stealing the mobile phone.
He said the fight turned bloody after Kwame Kwakye pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the process.
Chief Sakyi said the suspect after sensing danger, took to his heels but was apprehended by residents and handed over to the police.
The Chief Inspector added that the police is conducting further investigations into the matter and the suspect will be put before court soon.
