According to a report by Mynewsgh.com, some residents of Akyem Old Tafo in the East Akim Municipality, have still not recovered from shock after witnessing the incident.
Reports say the young man claimed the deceased person's family failed to pay him GHC20 as cost of his services after the burial.
The suspect, only identified as Atta aka Abodam, was spotted digging the remains of the deceased, Kwame Korankye Nkansah, who was interred at the Old Tafo cemetery.
Atta who claimed to have facilitated the burial as a pallbearer, explained that he was never paid for his services and therefore was exhuming the body in order to force the family settle their indebtedness.

However, some angry youth of Old Tafo pounced on him, and subjected him to severe beatings until they handed him over to the police.
Further reports indicate that the suspect succeeded in digging out part of the concrete slab that was used to seal the grave.
Abodam was also said to have ripped off part of the casket after digging a portion of the grave, exposing the decomposing body of the deceased and some other materials used in burying him.
Meanwhile the bereaved family have denied any ties with the suspect indicating he never played any role in the funeral arrangement of their late son.
