A mobile preacher, Evangelist Abraham Arthur, has been arrested and detained by the police for attacking public officials.
He also smashed the windscreen of a vehicle when he engaged the officials in a scuffle.
Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that the man of God flouted laws enacted to ensure noise pollution was curtailed in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
Personnel from the Noise Control Unit seized Arthur’s equipment, as it was against the rules to preach in a public place after 10am.
Failure to halt preaching after 10am resulted in either a court action or the payment of a penalty before seized items are released.
Arthur struggled with them in an attempt to free himself and retrieve his equipment which had been confiscated.
In the process, he smashed the windscreen of an official vehicle with one of his sound speakers.
He is further reported to have stated that “I would rather prefer to die than have my gadgets seized.
Investigations revealed that Arthur had no license from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to carry out his activities.
The man of God is currently in police custody.
