- Traders at Takoradi Market Circle say the god of the market is angry
- All traders have been charged 5 cedis as compensation to the god
It has emerged that some traders at the Takoradi Market Circle are appeasing their market god after recording low sales during the year.
Reports do indicate the market god, Nana Abobonua, has been the protector of the market for decades now and that seeing it at the market is proof enough of its urge for new rituals.
It all happened when a spirit is said to have manifested itself in a fetish priestess who was seen passing through the market. Reports claim that the god is ordering for the relocation of the Takoradi Market Circle to a different place stating it has been starved.
According to them, the god said it has been left hungry and angry because the ritual expected of them has not been performed.
This development has seen traders ordered to pay 5 cedis each by traditional authorities of the Amanful family for the ritual to pacify the god who they said is ‘hungry and angry’.
Subsequently, traders were left stranded for about four hours as the market was placed under lock-down, libation poured and mashed yam sprinkled inside the market before the traders were allowed entry. The pacification is expected to continue Thursday morning.
