Policeman in Nungua robbery saga was set to write promotional exams yesterday

- Corporal Raymond Amegashie, the Policeman who was arrested together with other accomplices at Nungua days ago, was set to write promotional exams yesterday

- He had, together with his robbery gang robbed a trader at Nungua of her GH₵40,000

- The Police officer escaped but was later apprehended by the police when he tried to run to hide in his hometown

Days ago, YEN.com.gh published the news of a police officer who was leading a robbery gang in Nungua.

The Police officer, Corporal Raymond Amegashie of the Tema Region SWAT team led his robbery gang to rob a trader at Nungua, a suburb of Accra.

They made away with GH₵40,000 belonging to one Madam Hellen Asante, owner of Asante Supermarket near ADB at Nungua.

According to a mynewsgh.com, the apprehended policeman and his accomplices armed with Ak47 assault rifles on board Toyota Corolla taxi cab with registration number GX 9514-13 attacked the victim at her shop.

It has been established that the police thief, Corporal Raymond Amegashie was set to take his promotional exams yesterday December 15, 2017; that is a day after his arrest.

His success in the aborted promotional exams would have seen him rise from the rank of a Corporal to Sergeant but for his unfortunate robbery incident and subsequent arrest.

The embattled Cop, who is yet to be arraigned before court together with his three accomplices, is believed to be the supplier of weapons to the robbery gang which they use in their operations.

While his accomplices were chased by the police and arrested, Corporal Amegashi absconded.

He was however arrested at Tsopoli Barrier when he was running away to his hometown in the Volta Region.

An amount of nineteen thousand, nine hundred and fifty (GH¢19,950), $600 USD and two mobile phones, a pistol with six rounds of ammunition were retrieved from suspects Ibrahim Ayirebo, Bright Dorkanu and Stanley Akorli
