Some entertainment enthusiasts have also disclosed the artiste they have tipped to win awards in the various categories.
However, this is the first time a top member of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Academy board is making a wild statement over the awards.
Halik Musah, member of the VGMA Academy Board has threatened to resign from his position if dancehall diva, Ebony Reigns, is not awarded the ‘Artiste of the Year’ title.
Halik believes that Ebony has worked harder than any other artiste under the year of review therefore if she does not win that prestigious award that would amount to “Total Cheat”.
He also said given Ebony’s controversial personality and brand, he is aware the ‘Hustle’ hit maker would not campaign for votes to win.
A more reason Ebony must win the award because her works speak for her, Halik indicated.
He took to his Facebook handle to declare his decision to resign if the ‘Sponsor’ hit maker is not given that award.
Halik Musah wrote: “If Ebony doesn’t win the 2018 artist of the year, I will personally resign as an academy board member for the VGMA. Because it will be Total cheat. I know ebony will not campaign much for votes because of her brand, But it doesn’t mean we should keep giving the awards to wrong people because of vote. It discourages talent.”
Ebony, born Pricilla Opoku Agyeman, has tipped herself as the ultimate winner of the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award.
Undoubtedly, Ebony has taken over the Ghana Music Industry with her hit upon hit.
She recently launched her first album ‘Bonyfied’ which followed a successful free-of-charge concert for her fans in appreciation of their support.
Despite her hard work, Ebony has also received a lot of backlash from the public over her choice of dress and grooming.
