Ghana's very own internationally acclaimed dancehall artist, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has hinted that he believes he deserved the 2016, and 2017 Artist of the Year awards.
According to Stonebwoy, the amount and quality of music he produced in the year 2016, and 2017 were the best coming from any Ghanaian at the time.
Speaking in a video interview on Joy News, Stonebwoy expressed that, "in his heart", he knows that he won the Artist of the Year award for 2016, and 2017, awards that ended up going to E.L and Joe Mettle.
"I'm appreciative of the fact that I set some records that are yet to be broken..But yet though the Artist of the Year for 2016, and 2017 I know that, in my heart, I won it. I have to be real. So let the reality be said, I've been there, I've done that." Said Stonebwoy.

The Artist of the Year award has been the source of many controversies in the Ghanaian music industry. The most memorable controversy involving another dancehall artist, Shatta Wale. The controversial artist ended up verbally attacking organizers for not having been given the award a few years ago.
