- Minister Hawa Koomson has responded to reports of her ministry's intent to use GHC800,000 to develop its website
- She said the quoted amount of GHC800,000 was a typo
- She's accused an NDC MP of leaking the document containing the error to cause mischief
Government Special Development Initiatives Minister, Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson, has responded to the reports of her ministry's decision to allocate GHC800,000 of its budget funding to the development of its website.
According to the Special Development Initiatives Minister, the quoted GHC800,000 amount said to be meant for her ministry's website development was the result of a typo, and not a true representation of what her outfit intends to spend on its website.
The recent issue of the Special Development Ministry's GHC800,000 website has shocked many Ghanaians. Not only that, news that the new ministry also intended to spend over GHC6 million to procure furniture has also attracted negative criticism.
Finally breaking her silence on the issue, Madam Koomson has expressed that she too was surprised at the quoted amount. Speaking in an interview on Starr FM, she revealed that upon hearing the statement, she proceeded to call the budget officer to find out what happened.
“How on earth can we use GH¢800,000 for just a website? Are we mad? To be frank with you when I heard the report I called the budget officer only to realise that it was a typo...how on earth can we use GH¢800, 000 for this Ministry’s website? What kind of website are we building? Please it is not GH¢800, 000…it was typo error." She said.
