The winner of this year's edition of Miss Ghana, the most coveted beauty pageant in Ghana, has responded to allegations of being involved in a romantic affair with vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia's brother, Yakubu Bawumia.
Following allegations stating that Margaret Mwintuur Dery, winner of this year's Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant, the girl who went on to make Ghana Proud in the global beauty pageant in Las Vegas has broken her silence and denied the allegation.
Rumors went rife prior to this year's edition of the beauty competition to the effect that Miss Dery was a favorite to take home the main prize due to an affiliation with Ghana's Vice President.

According to the rumor, the Vice President's brother, Mr. Yakubu Bawumia, generously funded the beauty pageant in Margaret Dery's name.
Commenting on the issue during an interview with Joy News' MzGee, Margaret Dery said she had to remind herself that she was working just as hard as the other contestants.

"I had to sit and tell myself that forget about everything because I knew deep down within myself that I was working as hard as the other ladies and I knew that my passion will take me there so I didn’t let the bloggers or whoever was trying to get me down do anything,” she said.
Miss Dery did, nevertheless, admit that she did, in fact, know the Vice President's brother, although she stressed that the relationship between then is not a romantic one.
“There is no truth to it at all. He is just a friend,” she said.
