Police arrest Sakawa man who poses as Tamale North MP to defraud others (photo)

A young man believed to be in his early 30s has been arrested by the Sasaka Police in Tamale for posing as a Member of Parliament and defrauding unsuspecting victims.
The young man, Seidu Nuri-Deen, has lured his victims into believing that he is the MP for Tamale North and defrauding others on social media.
He is reported to have created a Facebook account bearing Hon. Suhuyini’s name, pictures and other particulars.
Many victims have fallen prey to him, thinking that they were dealing with the MP himself.
A report by mynews.com indicated that the original MP for Tamale North, Hon.Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, got wind of the sakawa man’s activities and began to take measures in getting him arrested.

In October this year, th MP raised red flags about some unscrupulous persons using a fictitious Facebook account in his name and using it to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
Thus, he distanced himself from this crime and called on his followers and general public to disregard that account.

The suspect who was apprehended at a wedding ceremony on Sunday admitted to the offence.
He told the police that he was already looking for the MP to apologise to him for committing various crimes in his name.
Investigations are ongoing.
