- The case of 28-year-old Seidu Nuri-Deen is worsening as a deputy minister is accusing him of luring victims in his name and defrauding them
- He was arrested earlier on Sunday for defrauding others under the guise of being the MP for Tamale North
- He remains in police custody as investigations continue
The suspect, Seidu Nuri-Deen’s woes is deepening as he has been fingered by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Habib Tijani, for the same offence.
The suspected criminal who is reported to be a former student of Vittin Senior High School in the Northern Region is said to have been operating a Facebook account with details of the Deputy Minister who is also an MP for Yendi Constituency.
This means that he had been running two accounts supposing to belong to Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini and Mohammed Habib Tijani, to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Mohammed Habib lodged the complaint against the Sakawa thief barely 24 hours after he was arrested by the Sakasaka Police at a wedding reception in Tamale.
“He used my name to defraud several persons and when I was about closing up on him, he run to Tamale until I saw a publication that he has been arrested. I have just finished writing my statement about him,” the Minister told a mynewsgh.com reporter.
According to him, the suspect managed to make away with amounts ranging from GH¢100 and GH¢500 under the pretence of helping them enlisted in the various security agencies.
Asked if he was on any of the social media handles, the Deputy Minister said: "I am not on facebook, twitter or instagram; therefore anybody who dealt with such a person dealt with a fraudster.”
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini is demanding the prosecution of the suspect
Seidu Nuri-Deen who has succeeded in duping several persons several thousands of Ghana Cedis is currently in police detention waiting to be arraigned before court.
