Getting a passport in Ghana is very annoying especially when you are told to report at dawn to process your passport application.

YEN.com.gh has come across a similar grievance from a concern Ghanaian who suffered grave hiccups at a time when he had wanted to apply for a passport.

The concerned writer, security officials at the passport office always extort monies from applicants who throng the premises of the passport office in Accra.

According to him, gates at the Passport Office are shut to applicants by 6 AM as security officers impress on applicants to report between 3 to 4 AM at dawn.

"They tell you to be available at 4 AM. My question is this; which government institution opens at that time?" the concerned citizen argued.

These concerns by the troubled Ghanaian follows several other concerns raised over the poor and tiring service the passport office grants a many Ghanaian who have the dream of travelling outside Ghana.

So far, more than 10,000 passport booklets have been left uncollected at the Passport Office in Accra. At the Ridge Passport Application Centre alone, over 4,000 passports are yet to be collected.

Consequently, authorities at the Passport Office have initiated moves to publish the names of such applicants in the national dailies.
