Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah; Prof. Joshua Alabi; Nii Amasa Namoale; Sylvester Mensah; Alban Bagbin and others have registered their readiness to contest for the NDC flagbearer slot for the 2020 presidential elections.

Recently, Spio-Grabrah, one of the presidential hopefuls, while addressing some NDC members at Asawase in the Ashanti Region said the NDC needs a more competent and credible leader for the 2020 elections.

He also predicted that the 2020 elections would be a case of David and Goliath between the NDC and NPP.

Therefore, the NDC would need a ‘David’ to represent the party to face Goliath NPP.

Dr. Spio-Grabrah who served as a Minister of Trades and Industry under former President Mahama concluded his speech by saying that he is the ‘David’ the party needs to wrestle power from the NPP.

Thereby, discrediting John Mahama for that position.

However, the former Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur believes the internal wrangling and fight for power within the party is needless.

He explained that the NDC as it is now needs reorganization which must be fixed before battle for positions follows, according to a report by pulse.com.

The former Vice President made this statement when he together with his wife made a donation to some children on admission at the Ho Regional and Municipal Hospitals in the Volta Region this week.

According to him, reorganization would make the party stronger so that whoever is elected leader would be duly recognized as the choice of people belonging to an organized party and not a leader imposed on others.

I have no problem with any of my colleagues who have expressed interest in leading this great party. Let us not attack anyone because whoever is elected to lead us to victory 2020, will need the support of each and everyone,” he stresed.
