The press conferences, according to sources, ranged from calls for investigations into reported acts of corruption to demands for the resignation of specific appointees of the government.

According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Central, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, the NDC, as a result transformed itself into a ‘press conference party’.

He disclosed the details when responding to questions with respect to the alleged $100,000 fee fixed by the Diaspora Business Awards organized by the Ministry of Trade.

The minority side in Parliament is currently requesting for the house to reconvene, so as to discuss the alleged fees charged for the event.

According to the Minority Chief Whip and the MP for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the amount charged was not approved by parliament.

He again stated that it wasn’t accounted for in the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the Ministry.

The ministry of Trade, has however debunked the allegations raised on the floor of parliament by the MP.

The call, the Ablekuma Central MP insisted, was not the best.

He reacted by saying that the NDC has gradually become a “press conference party” that simply hosts the media whenever they wish to be heard.

For me I think that the minority wants to be heard and if they go ahead to do a press conference, that will be 319 press conferences since they went into opposition.

In fact even if you are a Member of Parliament on the side of the majority and you are seen talking to someone and they see you, they will organize a press conference’’ he told Adom News.

Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey said he will not be surprised to see the minority organizing a press conference on top of their petition to the speaker.
