A picture making rounds on social media of some former players of the senior national team has warmed hearts and has served to motivate many people to keep doing their best in their everyday lives.
The picture of former Chelsea player Michael Essien, John Painstil, Derek Boateng, Abdul Razak Ibrahim, John Mensah and Razak Pimpong who were in the U-19 team during the Argentina 2001 World Cup has encourage many potential footballers to work harder to be able to achieve success.
All the players of the then Black Satellites who were in the picture many years ago, moved on to do great things in the world of football both locally and internationally.
From their humble beginnings in popular local club Liberty Professionals, some of the players rose to the height of playing with and against some of the greatest players in the world including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Some of the players went on to make history by helping to take Ghana’s senior team to its first ever World Cup.
During the competition, they raised the flag of Ghana high by qualifying for the next round only to be knocked out of the competition by Brazil.
