December 26, popularly referred to as Boxing Day, is known worldwide as a day for giving out gifts especially for those of the Christian faith as it comes just after the celebration of the birth of Christ.
It therefore was not surprising to see a Christian youth group decide to make a donation to the Children's Ward of Tema General Hospital on such a day as one called Lisous Worldwide did.
But something interesting happened when they arrived to deliver their items. They met a young lady and her newly delivered baby who had been detained at the hospital because the mother could not pay the medical bill.
Apparently, the woman and her child had been detained at the hospital for about month due to her financial difficulties and would have spent the whole Christmas at the hospital had it not been for the timeous benevolence of Lisous Worldwide.
The group presented items including drinks, toiletries, scrubbing brushes, detergents, antiseptics, a bathroom water heater among others to the Children's Ward.
Lisous Worldwide is a non-denominational Christian organization which is made of up youth within the age bracket of 18-30 years.
In line with scriptures in the Holy Bible, the group seeks to reach out to the less privileged, poor, sick, needy and the imprisoned to offer help in their own small way.
Considering that most of its members are just SHS graduates and National Service personnel, their desire to give is quite commendable.
