- Former president Rawlings says NDC youths are now only motivated by money and not party ideals
- He says the party's grassroots has been paralyzed due to the death of party ideals
- He's urged NDC members to rise up and start a new revolution
Former President Jerry John Rawlings has lashed out at the youth of the (NDC) National Democratic Congress and said that they're only influenced by money and not principles.

According to former president Rawlings, the youth of the opposition NDC party has stopped being motivated by principles, and are rather motivated by monetary gains above all else.
Speaking at the 36th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution, Ghana's former head of state stated that many in the party to this day have no understanding of the main opposition party's ideals.

“Many have no clue about the ideals of the party and only see political association as an economic association, further emboldening the so-called kingmakers”, he stated.
The founder of the NDC went on to say that the party' grassroots has been completely paralyzed due to the lack of adherence to the party's principles, something that's driven people at the grassroots level to be opened up to monetary influence.
Addressing party faithfuls, former president Rawlings said that the time for rhetoric has passed, ad that members who believed in the ideals embodied by the June 4th, and December 31st movements to rise up.
"The time has come for a new revolution. This is not about Jerry Rawlings. This is about you and generations to come. Rawlings is not a faction and will never be. The ideals you believe in and for which I stand for and represent, are ideals that will stand the test of time no matter how long some choose to distort it with transient economic might... Sadly we ended up disrespecting and denigrating these people who knew nothing but to offer themselves to the party and country.." Said former president Rawlings.
