-He is expected to appear before court today, January 2
A self-styled spiritualist has been busted for allegedly defrauding four persons of about GH¢81,000 with the promise of helping them retrieve treasures buried in the group by their grandparents.
The suspect, identified as Mallam Latif, is said to have taken the amount from his victims to enable him purchase some items for the spiritual exercise of retrieving gold buried in the earth by their older generations.
But after taking money, Mallam Latif failed to retrieve the treasure as agreed. He tried to cover up by giving them GH¢1,500,000 and other currencies like US dollars, Euros and CFA which all turned out to be fake.
Sensing foul play, the victims led by one John Opoku lodged a complaint with the police leading to the arrest of the suspect at Wassa Kwame Dikrom, a community near Wassa Akropong in the Wasa Amenfi East district of the Western Region.
He is expected to appear before court today, January 2, 2018 on the provisional charges of defrauding by false pretense and dealing in counterfeit.
