Former Black Stars player who played for Bayern Munich, Samuel Osei Kuffour, has given the Ghana Blacks Stars a shot of reality, regarding the national team's aspirations for the upcoming AFCON 2019.
In a recent interview with the press, the former Black Stars player stated that he thinks the Ghanaian senior national football team ought to set its sights on AFCON 2021 and work towards winning that, instead of trying to achieve the difficult task of winning the AFCON 2019.
He also related that the senior national team's coach needs to be given the space to implement his plan, system, and ideas that will help the Black Stars win the African Cup.

This being said, he did express some disappointment at the fact that he was never able to bring back the African Cup trophy in his football career, which saw him participate in five AFCON tournaments.
The former Bayern Munich defender also expressed that - in his opinion - the performance of locally based players is on the low side, and urged coaches in the country to find ways to help players based in Ghana to improve their performance.
