An executive member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has made some scathing remarks about Nigerian superstar, Wizkid.
The politician who is not happy with organizers of 2017 CAF awards held on Thursday, at the Accra International Centre, in a Facebook post lamented that the event was soiled by ‘lack of local content’.
According to Mr Otchere-Darko, organizers of the awards sidelined Ghanaian musicians and rather dominated the event with Nigerian artistes.
The NPP man remarked that the worst artiste among them all was Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Wizkid, who appeared on stage inappropriately dressed.
Gabby, in his analysis, posted, “Almost a perfect programme at the CAF Awards soiled by lack of local content. But why, they couldn’t find any Ghanaian musician? Pathetic!”
He added, “Instead of treating us to some good Ghanaian performances, as well, CAF decided to populate the stage with Naija ones plus others, including a Nigerian artiste who was dressed as if he lost his way to the gym. I hear he is called Wizkid.”
The failure of organizers to put Ghanaian artistes on the bill has attracted heavy backlash on various social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah was crowned the African Player of the Year 2017.
The Liverpool forward beat competition from fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The 25-year-old has so far hit the back of the net 23 times from 29 appearances for Liverpool. He also helped the Pharaohs of Egypt to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
