Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has finally lifted the lid on why he did not show up at the 2017 CAF Awards.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king was part of the A-list artistes billed to perform at the gala held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Thursday.

However, Ghanaians were thrown into a state of pandemonium after Shatta Wale failed to turn up to perform at the programme.
Initial reports suggested that the singer was prevented from performing at the awards night because he did not rehearse for the event.
Explaining why he did not show up at the CAF Awards in an interview with Zylofon FM, Shatta Wale said he decided to cancel his performance due to a breach of contract.
According to him, the organisers of the event had agreed to pay him a certain amount, but later changed the terms of the agreement and decided to offer just GHc 30,000.
This, the artiste said, depicted a lack of disrespect from CAF, hence his decision not to perform at the event.
He, however, admitted that he received the said GHc 30,000 from the organisers but deliberately refused to turn up for the show.
"CAF and my team had a different contract," Shatta Wale said, adding,“a few days to the event, someone met with my management team to pay them $30,000.”
The 2017 CAF Awards was dominated by performances from Nigerian artistes including, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking and Phyno.
Ghana, however, was represented by Efya and Kidi who had the chance to also perform on the night.
