The death of veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrissu, has left many political stakeholders, friends and colleagues in shock.
Alhaji Bature passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, on January 5, after a short illness.
As is with Muslim custom, Alhaji Bature will be buried on Saturday, January 6, at the Madina Cemetery. The internment follows Janazah prayers which will be held at his residence in Nima.
There has been an outpour of sadness and condolences to the family of the late journalist, and several known associates have visited his home to pay their last respects.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia visited the family home of the late Bature on Saturday morning, to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.
Other known figures in Ghana’s political and business circles who were spotted grieving with the family, was the brother of Former President Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama, who looked devastated by the passing of his friend.
Beside him was the Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini.
YEN earlier reported that Former President Mahama expressed shock and sadness at the passing of his friend and eulogized him via his social media account.
“Sudden news of the passing of my brother and friend, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu. This is a great personal loss and for the NDC family. His wit and great sense of analysis will be sorely missed. May Allah the Merciful grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” Mahama said.
