- John Dramani Mahama has been criticized for "ignoring" the funeral rites of top NDC official, Alhaji Bature
- Mahama embarked on a unity walk at Techiman while Alhaji Bature was being buried in Accra
The former president, John Dramani Mahama has been criticised for prioritising his NDC Unity Walk over the funeral ceremony of top NDC member and managing editor of the Alhajj Newspaper, Alhaji Bature.
An activist with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dela Coffie, has described the move by John Mahama as unexpected stating that "the lack of empathy is so shocking".
"The man he, (Alhaji Bature) defended with his life, toiled and "died for" is on a self-promotional tour ("unity walk"), amidst fanfare, pomp and pageantry, and without an ounce of respect to the fallen activist, couldn't the organisers of the so-called unity walk pushed it to a later date in honour of Alhaji's demise?," he quizzed.
The former Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj was also a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His death comes as a big blow to many Ghanaians, especially when less than two months another journalist, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong (KABA) former late afternoon political show host of Asempa FM died and was also buried on December 16, 2017.
