Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that, contrary to popular belief, the late Alhaji Bature Iddrisu did not slip and fall in his bathroom.
A spokesman for his family, Amos Blessing Amorse, disclosed that the media reports about the late Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper are untrue and should be disregarded.
According to him, the deceased neither suffered a stroke nor slipped in his bathroom.
He further stated that no family member has granted an interview to the media with respect to the circumstances surrounding the death of the journalist.
He added that anyone who did something of that nature simply acted out of malice and as such should not be taken seriously.
Though he stopped short of giving a true account of the incident, he did reveal that the late Alhaji Bature fell ill for three weeks, before he was admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he passed on.
He went on to say that "per Islamic traditions, the body had to be brought home for the final rites. Thus, there was no postmortem report to ascertain the cause of death".
YEN.com.gh earlier reported of the sudden death of the late journalist on Friday 5th January 2018.
He was an outspoken political commentator on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam, and a member of the National Democratic Congress.
