Former president, John Dramani Mahama has marked the beginning of the year 2018 with beautiful images of his trip to the Zaina Lodge in the Northern region.

In various images captured, one can see various animals blending with nature at the Mole National Park.
John Mahama described the trip, which he took together with his nephew, Khalid, as one he holds fond memories of.
In his New Year message, he wished the management and staff of the Zaina Lodge well as the New Year begins.
The Mole National Park, first opened in the year 1958, has an area of 4,840 km² and serves as one of Ghana’s most important tourism destinations.
Located in northwestern Ghana, it is on record to be Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge.
It is the home to a wide variety of flora and fauna as well as other scenic features such as the Konkori Escarpment, which has panoramic views and overlooks waterholes where animals drink.
There are also waterfalls along the Kparia and Polzen rivers. To the south, the Larabanga village has a centuries-old, Sudanese-style mosque.
Recently, honey made from flowers in the Molé National Forest has become the region's first fair-trade commodity.
