- Shatta Wale last Saturday organized a concert in Tema for the first time
- Shockingly, less than 500 patrons were recorded at the concert despite the affordable ticket price
-Pundits have described this as a big blow to Wale’s huge brand
Some entertainment pundits are still trying to figure out why self-acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale, recorded less than 500 patrons at his ‘Untamed Energy Concert’ held in Tema over the weekend.
Some are blaming it on lack of publicity ahead of the event, while others think Shatta Wale’s public relations handlers did a poor job.
But whatever the reasons may be, reports have it that between 7pm and 2am, only a few people were present at the Tema Sports Stadium for Shatta Wale’s first concert of the year.
This has been concluded to be an embarrassment to such a huge brand like Shatta Wale.
This was also the first time the ‘Taking Over’ artiste is holding a concert in the ‘city of music’, Tema.
According to reports, tickets for the event were sold at an affordable price of GHC25 purposely to enable all Shatta Wale fans attend the concert.
At around 3am before Shatta Wale climbed the stage, a few people had joined the less than 200 patrons but still the number could not reach 300.
This, according to the pundits, took some shine out of the event which consequently affected Shatta Wale’s performance.
Later, gates were opened ajar for more people to gain access to the concert grounds free of charge but still no show from patrons.
In all, less than 500 people could be seen and counted at the Shatta Wale ‘Untamed Energy’ Concert also called the ‘Shatta Wale Live In Tema Concert’.
Nevertheless, the dancehall king did his best to entertain the few people who graced the event.
He thrilled the few fans when he mounted the stage to perform his talked-about hit song ‘Freedom’, while displaying some ‘crazy’ dance moves.
Other artistes who ‘surpported’ Shatta Wale at the concert were Eno Barony, Keche and Maccasio, who are all Tema-based artistes.
Shatta Wale is currently in the news for taking an amount of $30k from organizers of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards but failing to show up to perform.
CAF has disclosed that it would investigate the matter and properly address it in due time.
