-A robbery victim was left to his fate as police officers around fled the scene
-The police explained that they were unarmed hence their decision to run
The driver, YEN.com.gh gathered, was driving a Toyota corolla GT 2800-14 on Sunday when he detected that he was being followed by another car which made him suspicious.
Upon reaching the Tema Steel Works junction, he spotted six police officers believed to be from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) who were directing traffic at the junction, and decided to park there for their protection.
However, the unarmed police officers took to their heels as the robbers parked behind the victim's car and started firing warning shots to scare the people around.
The decision of the police officers to bolt left the driver to the mercy of the robbers who went ahead to rob him of an unspecified amount of money.
According to Mynewsgh.com, the police officers, upon their return after the robbery, explained that they had no weapon on them and that was the reason they took to their heels.
