The female senior national football team, Black Queens has set a record with the appointment of Mercy Tagoe as its head coach following the resignation of coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

The appointment of Mercy Tagoe as the interim coach of the female national team will go down in history as the very first time a female has taken to head coach position on all levels of national football.

Mercy Tagoe was appointed manager of the senior female national side after Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani resigned from his post to take up an international coaching job in Denmark for FC Nordsjælland.

Mercy Tagoe, prior to her appointment as head coach served as assistant coach of the Black Queens. She was also a former Assistant Coach of Amidaus Professionals.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Oti Aketeng revealed that further discussions were going to be made to settle on who eventually takes up the full running of the Black Queens as Head Coach.

It is however highly probable that Madam Mercy Tagoe will stay on permanently as the head coach of the Black Queens.

Mercy Tagoe who has racked up considerable experience as a footballer played as a defender for the Ghana women's national football team. She was part of the team at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. On club level she played for Bluna Ladies.
