Award-winning Kumawood comic actor Kwaku Manu has revealed that during the Christmas season, many veteran actors and musicians fell on him to be benevolent to them by giving them cash for ‘Christmas chicken’.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM with Prince Tsegah, the comic actor disclosed that several industry colleagues called him daily demanding cash from him to get by; a situation he considered disheartening.
According to him, some old musicians and actors requested for GHc 50 from him during Christmas to buy chicken.
He said that the situation of the people who contacted him was testament of the fact that there were some economic lapses in the system leading to some people suffering to survive.
The actor bemoaned the fact that he was not a Member of Parliament yet he cared for many people who called on him on daily basis.
He added that the leadership of the nation needed to sit up so that the to work hard so that economic pressure and burden that was heavily laying on some Ghanaians could be lightened.
Kwaku Manu is one of the highly sought after actors in the Kumawood movie industry having starred in many Kumawood-produced movies with some of the industry’s favorite actors and actresses.
The comic actor also doubles as a musician having recorded a number of songs which are fairly popular among music-loving Ghanaians.
