Full list of persons who allegedly paid to sit by President Akufo-Addo at the expat awards

The names of the persons who are alleged to have paid to secure a seat on the President Akufo-Addo’s table at during the Ghana Expatriates Business Awards have been released by the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremateng.

Mr Kyeremateng made the names public on Friday when he appeared before the five-member Parliamentary committee investigating the matter of corruption as raised by the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak.

According to Mr. Mubarak the fees charged at the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards (GEBA) were not approved by Parliament, adding that the monies were also not accounted for in the Internally Generated Funds [IGF] of the Ministry’s accounts.

The claims and red flag raised by the minority led to public uproar which led to the setting up of the parliamentary committee to investigate the matter.

The committee began its work on Thursday, with the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak and Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa appearing before it on day one.

Mr. Kyeremateng, who took his turn on Friday said those who sat by the President were 17 in number, ranging from top business executives to key political figures.
