- According to his spokesperson, Reginald Dogbe, Woyome isn't scared of Martin Amidu, as he is not a criminal
Alfred Agbesi Woyome, the businessman and alleged financier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reacted the nomination of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor.
In a report by Ghanacelebrities.com, Woyome is alleged to have expressed joy at the appointment of the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice as the Special Prosecutor.
Through his spokesperson, Reginald Dogbe, he indicated that he isn’t bothered, as he is not a criminal.
“My boss is happy about the appointment of Amidu and is not bothered at all. He is not a criminal to be scared of Amidu.
Amidu is a professional lawyer and won’t take any decision without any concrete evidence” Reginald Dogbe said on Neat Fm.
In the wake of the revelation that Woyome had caused a GHc51.2 million financial loss to the state, Amidu secured a judgment from the Supreme Court in a bid to retrieve the money from Woyome.
The money is yet to be recovered from the businessman, and in that respect, political pundits have argued that Amidu’s appointment is an attempt to revisit the case.
Amidu would commence his duties once Parliament approves the appointment after they return from their holiday break.
This ended months of speculation, with respect to the identity of the person to assume that office, after the Bill to create the Office of the Special Prosecutor was sent to Parliament.
