How to register a business in Ghana
Registering a business is very easy and the advanced technology has made it easier. It is divided into two easy steps.
Step one is business registration at Registrar General’s Department (RGD)
The first step to register a business is through the Registrar General Ghana. All the business enterprises are expected to fill application forms as per the rules and regulations of the RGD. Every company is expected to have a valid auditor who must be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts. The auditor is not expected to be a partner, or an employee of the said company. He/she should not be an officer of the company either. When these forms are submitted and they satisfy the requirements of the RGD, a fee is paid. A certificate of Incorporation and a Certificate to Commence a business is issued.
Step two is to register with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC)
The GIPC building is found at the public services building in Accra. It is a government agency that promotes investments in Ghana. The investors of the company are expected to finish filling the Investor Registration Forms in duplicates. Once they forward these forms then the business will be officially registered within 5 days. How to register a sole proprietorship in Ghana
Questions on how to register a sole proprietorship in Ghana are many. If you want to register a sole proprietorship in Ghana, or if you want to register your own private business, the RGD is also open to it. All you have to do is download the forms from the RGD portal. There are three forms that are required to be filled;
- Sole proprietorship Form A
- Sole Proprietorship Re-registration Form A
- Form D (Notification of change of particulars for sole proprietorship
