The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Asomah Cheremeh is claiming innocence of instigating attacks on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Regional Youth Organizer, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC.
According to the minister, Abronye was attacked and beating for accusing the Brong Ahafo regional Chief Imam and the former regional minister, Eric Opoku of purchasing and drinking to the tune of GHc50,000.
Speaking to Kasapa FM in Accra, the spokesperson for the Regional Minister, Maxwell Mahama revealed that the outspoken NPP member was beating by some irate youth because he refused to apologize to the regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Kadiri after his wild accusations.
The spokesperson maintained that even though the Regional Chief Imam’s office had reportedly held a press conference and asked him to apologize for his false claims, Abronye DC blatantly ignored.
This he said infuriated some youth group in the area who decided to teach him a lesson upon hearing he was in town.
Maxwell Mahama who was clearly not happy in his submission rubbished Abronye’s claims that the Regional Minister was the brain behind his assault.
He added that Hon. Asoma Cheremeh is a lawyer by profession and a law abiding citizen, therefore will not encourage criminal acts and lawlessness.
Abronye who has expressed interest in contesting for the National Youth Organizer position of the NPP, was on Saturday afternoon beaten to pulp at Atebubu, where he was scheduled to meet some party executives.
The controversial NPP man who was speaking whiles on admission at the hospital accused a confidant of the Regional Minister, one Jafaru Yakubu of leading the assault on him.
The NPP Regional Organizer was said to have suffered serious injuries including a fractured arm.
The angry youth also vandalized his Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle, but was rescued and rushed to the hospital by some good Samaritans.
