After watching the documentary, Mrs Akufo-Addo got touched and launched the ‘Save a child, save a mother’ through which two public fund raising events were held, one in Accra and one in Kumasi.

Months after the fundraising, which yielded millions of Ghana cedis, the new MBU is ready to serve the public.

Estimated at a cost of GHC10 million, it is expected to reduce drastically the mortality rate of mothers and babies at the hospital by about 60 percent.
