The wife of the police inspector who was shot dead during a gun attack on the Kwabenya Police station on Sunday dawn, has spoken for the first since the incident happened.
According to Mrs Esther Kpekpe Ashilevi, her husband had gone on night duties and she was waiting for him to return so they could go to church together.
When her husband did not arrive at the time she expected, she still had no expectation of such bad news until the IGP and other top police officers came calling. It was then that she realised that something wrong had happened.
Mrs Ashilevi revealed her shock at the incident saying she still cannot believe her husband was dead
She has however, called for a speedy investigation which will lead to the arrest of the killers of her husband.
Going forward, the sad-looking mother, also wants the government to help in raising her five kids, saying the burial of her husband should not be the end of the story.
The late Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi was shot by gunmen broke jail to seven suspects in police custody.
He died at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra , where he had been sent to receive treatment.
His wife described him as a “principled” man who never compromised on discipline adding that he was always on time to work and showed so much commitment to duty.
Meanwhile the police are still on a manhunt for the seven escapees of the jail break.
