Esther Ashilevi, the widow of the late Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi, has broken her silence over the death of her spouse.

In an interview with Adom FM, she stated that she was at home when some people broke the news to her.
She revealed that her husband usually went for night duties, and as such she wasn’t worried when he failed to come home that night.
She further stated that she received several visitors at home the following morning, including the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and a number of top police officials.
According to her, she broke into tears the moment she set eyes on them, as she instinctively knew her worst fears had been confirmed.
Esther Ashilevi again revealed that the police officials, who looked sad at the unfortunate turn of events, assured her of their support.
“I heard of several deaths of policemen; I never knew it could be my husband. I always felt afraid,” she revealed.
With respect to how their five children took the news, she stated that the youngest has been talking of his father ever since the incident occurred.
The others, she added, are all aware, and are taking the bitter news in a matured way.
The late Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi met his untimely death when gunmen stormed the Kwabenya Police station in a bid to free seven suspects in police custody.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday January 21, 2018, resulted in the death of the Inspector.
