Ask of the number one musician in Ghana, and unsurprisingly, about 90% of the populace would vote Sarkodie as the one.
Undoubtedly, the ‘Highest’ artiste is one of the best rappers Ghana can boast of.
He is acclaimed both locally and at the international level.
Sarkodie, born Michael Owusu Addo is also a multiple award-winning artiste with so many domestic and global awards to his name.
But just like the old adage goes in the Akan language: “Obi nnim obrempong ashase3”, meaning “every rich king now once had a beginning that was not all that good” but is making it big presently.
The above adage can be applied to Sarkodie who also started music not looking like the sophisticated musician he looks today.
He started from ground zero, parading the streets of Tema with his talent and “by force” performances at shows for virtually no charge.
However with hard work, consistency, persistence and other sterling qualities, Sarkodie can boast of fame and cash today!
He is indeed, the highest paid musician in Ghana, and one of the best in Africa.

He also started music signed on to the ‘Last Two’ record label with others including rapper Edem and Kwaw Kese; but today he owns his own record label, Sarkcess Music onto which he has signed other artistes.
He has an uncountable number of songs to his credit.
The songs include: ‘Painkiller’, ‘Hand to Mouth’ ‘Gbozaa’, and a lot more.
Sakodie’s life story is truly and inspiring one which when paid attention to, would motivate any willing person to work hard and never give up in trying to be at the top.
